European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated on Friday that the Union will increase its financial and military help to Kyiv, as well as work on its own defense capability.
Speaking at a joint press briefing with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and Estonia Prime Minister Kaja Kallas on the anniversary of the onset of the Ukrainian conflict, Von der Leyen stressed that the EU "must give Ukraine means to defend itself," as well increase own defense capabilities and replenish its own weapons stocks.
The EU Commission president underscored that the sanctions are eroding Russia's economic base, calling on countries to increase pressure on Moscow, and welcomed the United Nations General Assembly's vote in favor of the resolution condemning the Kremlin's actions in Ukraine.
