European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said at the World Economic Forum on Tuesday that Ukraine can win the war against Russia but that it needs a "sufficient and sustained" supply of weapons as well as "predictable financing throughout 2024 and beyond."
Von der Leyen insisted that Russia is "failing on strategic goals" in the war with Ukraine, including militarily and diplomatically. She claimed Russia has lost roughly half of its military capabilities since the start of the war in February 2022 and that it is now "dependent on China." She also said that the European Union is expected to get more overall energy from wind and solar surces than from Russian fossil fuel imports.
