United States Vice President JD Vance told UpHerd in an interview published on Tuesday that Washington is "working very hard" with United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer's administration to reach a trade deal.
"The [US] President [Donald Trump] really loves the UK. He loved the Queen. He admires and loves the King. It is a very important relationship. And he's a businessman and has a number of important business relationships in [Britain] ... I think there's a good chance that we'll come to a great agreement that's in the best interest of both countries," Vance commented.
Talking about Washington's relations with Europe, he remarked that the latter being "more independent" would work in favor of both the continent and the US. "It's not good for Europe to be the permanent security vassal of the US," he said. Vance also criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for stating that the US was on Russia's side, stressing that this "is certainly not productive."
