The White House "strongly condemned" North Korea's latest missile launch on Thursday, calling it a "brazen violation of multiple UN Security Council resolutions."
White House press secretary Jen Psaki claimed Pyongyang's first intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) test since 2017 "needlessly raises tensions and risks destabilizing the security situation in the region." She claimed it also shows that North Korea "continues to prioritize its weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programs over the well-being of its people."
According to Psaki, the United States still remains open to resolving the North Korean issue via diplomacy but only if Pyongyang "immediately" stops taking "destabilizing actions."
