White House National Security Council (NSC) Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby pointed out on Friday that the United States has no plans to conduct an independent inquiry into the deaths of seven aid workers from the World Central Kitchen (WCK), who were killed by Israeli forces earlier this week.

Kirby emphasized the need for an "independent, thorough, and transparent investigation" into the attack. He stated that the strike was carried out by "an agency of the Israeli government that does not report directly to the IDF chain of command."

The WCK demanded earlier "the creation of an independent commission to investigate the killings of our WCK colleagues," since the IDF "cannot credibly investigate its own failure in Gaza."
