Indexes on Wall Street returned to negative territory in Tuesday's volatile session as investors digested comments by United States Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell. The Fed head stated the latest strong jobs report could force the bank to continue tightening its monetary policy and noted that disinflation is yet to be visible in all sectors.
The Dow Jones fell 0.61% or 204 points at 1:52 pm ET. The worst performer was Verizon whose shares fell 2.76% at 1:55 pm ET.
The Nasdaq 100 was down 0.10% with Lucid Group tumbling 6.10% and the S&P 500 lost 0.38% as Incyte dropped 5.67%.
The euro declined 0.30% against the dollar to go for 1.06979 at 1:54 pm ET.
