Witkoff lands in Moscow for ceasefire talks with Putin

United States Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff arrived in Moscow on Thursday for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the ceasefire proposal Ukraine has already agreed to.

Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov declined to confirm reports that Russia had sent Washington a list of demands to end the war, stating only that much of the circulating information "does not correspond to reality." Media previously indicated that the Kremlin set three key conditions for ending the war in Ukraine: a commitment that Kiev will not seek NATO membership, an agreement to prohibit the deployment of foreign troops in Ukraine, and international recognition of Russia’s claim over Crimea and four Ukrainian regions.

Witkoff's visit follows remarks from US President Donald Trump, who yesterday revealed that Washington had received positive signals regarding a ceasefire in Ukraine and expressed optimism that Russia would agree to the previously negotiated 30-day ceasefire plan with Kiev.
