Chinese President Xi Jinping said during a meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Monday that the two countries are at a "new starting point," praising Albanese for "working to stabilize and improve relations with China."
"A healthy and stable China-Australia relationship serves the common interests of our two countries and two peoples. It also meets the common expectation of countries in our region. It is important that we keep moving forward with a comprehensive strategic partnership between our two countries," Xi said. Meanwhile, Albanese said Australia and China have "restarted a range of dialogues and the tempo of bilateral visits is increasing," adding that Australia has an "interest in continued stable growth in the Chinese economy."
