Russian President Vladimir Putin, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev issued a joint statement on Monday after trilateral discussions in Sochi, reaffirming "commitment to strict observance" of all agreements reached over the past two years after the military conflict between the two Caucasus neighbors.
The three sides agreed to tackle the remaining regional issues, pointing out the "key contribution of the Russian peacekeeping" forces, according to the joint press release. "We agreed to refrain from the use of force or the threat of its use, to discuss and resolve all problematic issues solely on the basis of mutual recognition of sovereignty," the three leaders said.
They also agreed on "the importance of active preparation for the conclusion of a peace treaty" between Yerevan and Baku that should serve as the basis of a "sustainable and long-term peace in the region."
