GOP negotiators reportedly halt debt limit talks

UNSPLASH/IAN HUTCHINSON

Talks on lifting the debt ceiling between the White House and House Republicans were halted on Friday after GOP negotiators walked out.

GOP Representative Garret Graves said that the White House was being "unreasonable" and insisted that the talks were "just not productive." As cited by the Wall Street Journal, Graves noted he is "not sure" if the negotiations will resume over the weekend.

Earlier this week, both the Republican and Democrat sides expressed confidence a deal on raising debt limit will be reached, with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy noting a vote on the matter is possible next week.
