Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with Kyodo News published on Monday that his country intends to find a diplomatic solution to retake some of its territories from Russia after Ukraine's NATO membership becomes certain.
"Our army lacks the strength to take back some territories, like Crimea. That is true. We do have to find a diplomatic solution," Zelensky stated, adding that "only when we are strong enough for them not to return anew with their aggression can we think about diplomatic means."
The Ukrainian head of state further said that United States President-elect Donald Trump and his team are aware of Kiev's "victory plan," which aims to put Ukraine in a strong position so that diplomacy can produce effects. "They're studying the plan and we are going to hear from them. But there will be no capitulation from the side of Ukraine," Zelensky underlined.
