Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stressed on Saturday that Kiev remains firm in its stance against Russia, emphasizing that the ongoing conflict is a fight for survival.
Zelensky claimed that Russia is the "enemy" and that peace must be just. To achieve this, he said Ukraine needs strong security guarantees, a powerful army and committed allies. Without these, negotiations would be weak and the risk of further attacks would remain.
He said the minerals deal with the US is a "step forward," but that Kiev still needs security guarantees to prevent future aggression. "Our situation is tough, but we can't just stop fighting and not having guarantees that Putin will not return tomorrow," he stressed.
