Activision CEO to step down on December 29

Bobby Kotick will step down from the role of Activision Blizzard CEO on December 29, CNBC reported on Wednesday, citing an internal memo by Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer.

"I'd like to thank Bobby—for his invaluable contributions to this industry, his partnership in closing the Activision Blizzard acquisition and his collaboration following the close—and I wish him and his family the very best in his next chapter," Spencer said in the memo. Meanwhile, Kotick, who joined the company then called Activision in 1991, expressed pride in his staff and said that it "isn't an accident" that the game maker is now "part of the world's most admired company."
