At least 16 people were killed and between 50 and 60 injured in multiple shootings in Lewiston, Maine, local media reported Wednesday, after Maine State Police ordered residents to shelter in place due to the active shooter situation. The shootings occurred in at least three different locations.
"We are encouraging all businesses to lock down and or close while we investigate," the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office said in a post on Facebook. "If you see any suspicious activity or individuals, please call 911."
Lewiston police identified Robert Card, 40, as a person of interest, saying he should be "considered armed and dangerous."
