United States President Joe Biden and his Panamian counterpart Jose Raul Mulino discussed their joint concerns regarding Venezuela's vote-counting process following the country's contested presidential election.
Biden extended his gratitude to Mulino for Panama's efforts to "mobilize regional support to restore democratic norms in Venezuela and condemn political repression." Biden also emphasized the "strong commitment" the US has for advancing the partnership between the two countries, one based on "shared democratic values."
The two heads of state talked over joint efforts to address the "challenges" caused by "irregular migration" through Panama, including "regularization of migrant populations and increased humane enforcement efforts."
