United States President Joe Biden directed his team to deploy all available federal firefighting assets to extinguish forest fires that have been raging in Canada following a call with the country's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
According to a readout of the conversation posted by the White House, the US has dispatched over 600 firefighters and support staff, along with additional firefighting resources in response to the wildfires. The smoke triggered air quality alerts as far as South Carolina, with New York being particularly affected by the hazardous particles.
