United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Tuesday that the chance of a ceasefire agreement is "down to" Hamas leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar.
"If Hamas doesn’t say yes, then this is clearly on them - on them in terms of a vote to continue the war, not end it; on them in terms of the safety, the well-being of hundreds of thousands, millions of Palestinian women, children, and men in Gaza," Blinken said during a press briefing in Tel Aviv.
The Wall Street Journal previously reported, citing messages Sinwar sent to other Hamas high officials, the Gaza leader said that the bloodshed of Palestinian civilians will benefit Hamas in its war against Israel. "We have the Israelis right where we want them," Sinwar reportedly said in one of the messages.
