United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasized the need for a 21-day ceasefire along the Israel-Lebanon border during a meeting with United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the State Department said on Friday.
During a meeting on Thursday, the two leaders also discussed ways to complete a ceasefire in Gaza, which would facilitate the release of hostages and establish conditions for broader peace. Blinken praised the UAE as a "Major Defense Partner," noting enhanced military cooperation between the two nations.
On Wednesday, it was revealed that France and the US are working on a 21-day temporary ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel. During his speech at the 79th United Nations General Assembly Debate, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stressed his intention to continue the war until achieving his military goals against both Hamas and Hezbollah.
