Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro stated on Tuesday that a new chapter in the relationship between the United States and Brazil started today, as well as a restoration of old tradition of friendship between the two nations. During a press conference at the White House with US President Donald Trump, Bolsonaro stated that he is planning to "thoroughly" change Brazil's business environment, reaffirming the importance of the private sector for the country's economic development.
The Brazilian president also stated that he and Trump discussed a potential opening of a US military base in the South American country, as well as a launch of the energy forum for businesses dealing with oil, gas, and other energy sources.
Meanwhile, Trump said he and Bolsonaro have a very good working relationship and share "many similar views." The US president asserted that he and his Brazilian counterpart are both dedicated to future talks on investments and reducing tariffs.
