Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney will likely call a snap general election on April 28, The Globe and Mail reported on Thursday.
According to two people familiar with the matter, Carney's Liberal Party (LPC) already enlisted high-profile personalities like former Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson, television host Evan Solomon, and Quebec Finance Minister Carlos Leitao to join the campaign.
The election would come after Carney became prime minister following an inter-party vote and amid a trade row with the United States initiated by that country's President Donald Trump's tariffs on Canada.
