German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced on Wednesday that he plans to request a vote of non-confidence in the Bundestag, scheduled for January 15 and expressed his desire to hold a potential early election by the end of March.
This decision followed the dismissal of Finance Minister Christian Lindner, which resulted in the ruling three-party coalition losing its parliamentary majority.
"I will talk to opposition leader Merz, economy and defence cannot wait until after elections," Scholz added.
