The Democrats may file a legal challenge if the United States President Donald Trump declares a national emergency, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said on Thursday, adding that decision would set a precedent that should be met with "great unease."
The situation at the southern border is a humanitarian issue and not a national emergency, Pelosi claimed, stating the president created the crisis as an illusion to get what he wants. However, the Democrats are waiting to see what Trump will say first before reacting, although all options are being reviewed in order to prepare to respond appropriately to the president's decision.
Additionally, Pelosi said no good faith negotiations can be had with the GOP if they support the president.
