Eight people dead in mass shooting in Allen, Texas

Eight people were killed while seven were wounded on Saturday afternoon in a mass shooting at an outdoor outlet mall in Allen, Texas before the police were able to neutralize the gunman for whom they believe he acted alone.

"Law enforcement is on the scene at Allen Premium Outlets. An active investigation is underway. Please avoid the area until further update," the Allen Police Department initially said in a Twitter post. Texas Governor Greg Abbott marked the event as an "unspeakable tragedy" and offered support to local authorities.
