French authorities have launched an investigation into a disappearance of Interpol President Meng Hongwei, the media reported on Friday.
According to the reports, there has been no contact with Meng for a week since he traveled to his native country, China. The 64-year old Interpol's chief was reported missing by his wife. They currently reside in Lyon. Interpol has not confirmed the alleged disappearance so far.
Meng replaced former United States Under Secretary of the Treasury for Enforcement Ronald Noble as the new Interpol president in November 2016.
