Huawei to move research from US to Canada - CEO

Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd.'s CEO Ren Zhengfei announced that the company will move its research division to Canada from the United States.

Speaking in an interview for the Canadian newspaper The Globe and Mail, Huawei's CEO added that he aims to build new factories in Europe in order to produce 5G equipment.

Ren's daughter and Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou is under house arrest in Vancouver, Canada, over alleged violations of Washington's sanctions against Iran and is awaiting extradition to the US.
