Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reaffirmed on Friday his country's commitment to supporting Syria "with whatever is needed" amid a major rebel offensive.

During a visit to Baghdad, Araghchi emphasized Iran's longstanding backing of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's government, saying, "The Islamic Republic of Iran has always supported Syria and will continue to do so with all its might."

He also stressed the international responsibility to fight terrorism in Syria, warning that terrorist threats extend beyond Syria's borders. Araghchi's remarks were made following a high-level meeting in Baghdad with Iraqi and Syrian counterparts after opposition forces seized key cities like Aleppo and Hama.
