French President Emmanuel Macron rejected on Monday a government directed by the left-wing New Popular Front (NFP) alliance, to protect "institutional stability", as if named, it "would immediately censored by all the other groups in the National Assembly."
In a statement released by the Elysee Palace, Macron stressed that after consultations with party leaders, it was concluded that such NFP government would have a "majority of more than 350 deputies against it, preventing it from acting." Moreover, he announced that a new round of consultations will be held starting tomorrow August 27 and encouraged socialists, ecologists and communist parties to "cooperate with the other political forces" to agree on a prime minister.
In the parliamentary elections in July, the NFP emerged as the largest bloc, winning the most seats.
