French President Emmanuel Macron (pictured) ruled out resigning "whatever the result" of the upcoming French parliamentary elections in an interview with Le Figaro Magazine on Tuesday.
"The institutions are clear, and so is the place of the president, whatever the result," the outlet added. Earlier today, French Europe 1 station reported that the president had discussed stepping down with one of his interlocutors in recent weeks. However, the radio station later refuted this information.
Macron decided to dissolve the parliament and called for an early two-round parliamentary election for June 30 and July 7 following a setback suffered by his Renaissance party in the European Parliament elections.
