Honda Motor and Nissan Motor Corporation's potential merger talks are set to begin as early as Monday, December 23, Nikkei Asia reported on Wednesday.
The move stems from their collaboration initiated in August, as both companies aim to boost progress in areas that demand substantial investment, such as electric vehicles and software, which could create a rival to Toyota Motor Corp., the outlet added.
Earlier reports indicated that the two Japanese automaking titans were gearing up to commence talks about a potential merger, with intentions to eventually include Mitsubishi in the arrangement.
