Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that his country and North Korea oppose the politically motivated sanctions, claiming that they harm the geopolitical situation.
"We oppose the practice of applying politically motivated sanctions and restrictions. Such illegitimate actions only undermine the global economic and political system," Putin stated during the joint conference with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Pyongyang.
Additionally, the Russian head of state urged the United Nations Security Council to review sanctions imposed on North Korea and incited by the United States. He further said that the two countries will keep supporting each other "as true friends and good neighbors," despite international pressure.
