Spain's annual inflation stood at 1.8% in October, the country's National Statistics Office (INE) said on Thursday, matching the preliminary reading. The figure remained above September's rate of 1.5%.
The uptick in inflation was mostly attributed to housing prices, which increased 4.2% annually, mostly due to higher electricity and gas prices, and to transportation, whose annual rate added 0.9 percentage points to reach a negative 3.0%.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.6%. The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices climbed 1.8% year on year and added 0.1% from September. Meanwhile, the annual core inflation rate, which excludes unprocessed food and energy products, stood at 2.5%.
