The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) claimed on Tuesday that its Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine is more efficient against the Delta variant "than any other vaccine that published results on this strain so far." RDIF stated the findings are based on a study by the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology "submitted for publication in an international peer-reviewed journal," without citing concrete data.
The RDIF head Kirill Dmitriev said earlier this month Russia could see "vaccine tourism" in July, with foreigners coming to the country with the aim of getting inoculated. He also stated there is an "absolutely excessive demand" for the Sputnik V vaccine from other countries "due to the fact that it shows the best results both in terms of efficiency and safety."
