Major European stock markets opened lower on Thursday as investors were receiving more earnings reports from major companies across the continent. On the political note, the attention remained on the geopolitical tensions in the Middle East where world leaders are taking part in discussions on how to resolve the Gaza conflict and advance in possible further economic and defense support. Today, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak started a two-day visit to Israel.
At 9:01 am CET, the CAC 40 fell 0.79%, with Renault falling 3.51% after its latest report. The FTSE 100 lost 0.68%, as Hargreaves Landsdown decreased 3.61%. The pan-European Euro Stoxx 50 edged down 0.55%, with Deutsche Boerse dropping 2.58%. The DAX lost 0.23% with Heidelberg Materials down by 2.03% at 9:04 am CET.
The euro and British pound traded both flat against the dollar at 8:57 am CET, selling for $1.05417 and $1.21352, respectively.
