Trump signs orders forming faith office, freezing S. Africa aid

United States President Donald Trump signed an executive order to establish a White House Faith Office and another to freeze assistance to South Africa.

The order creating the White House Faith Office states that it aims to ensure "all executive departments and agencies honor and enforce the Constitution’s guarantee of religious liberty and to ending any form of religious discrimination by the Federal Government.”

The order freezing assistance to South Africa comes in response to a South African law that allows the government to seize farmland from ethnic minority Afrikaners, as well as the country's foreign policy decisions, which include its stance on Israel and ties to Iran. The order states that the US will not support South Africa as long as these policies continue and directs Washington to assist Afrikaners fleeing the country, including helping them resettle in the US.
