The United Kingdom and France joined on Friday the countries that criticized the riots that occurred in the West Bank when a number of Israeli settlers either destroyed or set ablaze several cars and homes belonging to Palestinian civilians in the village of Jeit, an event that resulted in the death of at least one person.

Foreign Secretary David Lammy and his French counterpart Stephane Sejourne both shared their thoughts on the matter during their joint visit to Jerusalem. The ministers noted that the incident shows that there is "no time for delays or excuses from all parties on a ceasefire deal."

Previously, the United States condemned the event, while Israel promised an investigation.
