British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on Friday the updated version of the ministerial code, according to which the ministers breaking the government's rules of conduct will not be forced to resign.

According to the amendment, ministers who breach the rulebook guidelines will no longer be expected to automatically resign but will be obligated to publicly apologize or temporarily lose their salary for a brief period. It is stated in the policy paper that it is "disproportionate to expect that any breach, however minor, should lead automatically to resignation or dismissal."

Earlier this week, Johnson declared he takes full responsibility for the parties in Downing Street which took place during strict coronavirus lockdowns.
