Ukrainian Prosecutor-General Irina Venediktov announced on Thursday it will investigate 10 Russian servicemen suspected of "war crimes" in Bucha.
According to the statement, the ten soldiers were accused of "cruel treatment" of civilians and other violations of laws and customs of war. It is believed that Ukrainian civilians were kept hostage, and during that time beaten and starved. The prosecutors also accused the suspects of robbing the Bucha residents and taking their personal belongings.
Earlier, Russian soldiers were accused of committing "atrocities" in Bucha, while the United States President Joe Biden called his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin a "war criminal." According to the Prosecutor's office, the soldiers belonging to the Russian 64th Motor Rifle Brigade were awarded the honorary title of "guards" by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
