United States President Donald Trump's Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff will lead the American delegation for negotiations on a nuclear deal with Iran, set to take place on April 12 in Oman, two sources briefed on the plan told Axios on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Iranian media reported that the country's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will be Iran's chief negotiator. Araghchi previously claimed that the upcoming talks will be "indirect" with Omani officials serving as mediators.

On the other hand, Trump insisted that US and Iranian delegations will hold "direct" talks in Oman, and voiced hope that they will be able to reach a deal.
