White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre emphasized on Wednesday that the Biden administration expects the House Republicans to resolve the "chaos" they have created and "end the infighting" within their party.
"They have the majority in the House, they can fix it," Jean-Pierre underlined during the regular press briefing. The press secretary, however, refrained from giving comments on the candidates vying for the position of the next House speaker, stating that it is up to the Republican-led majority in the lower congressional chamber to resolve the matter.
So far, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise and Republican Jim Jordan joined the race to become the next speaker of the House after the majority voted to remove Kevin McCarthy from office. United States President Joe Biden expressed his concern that the current situation in the House could affect aid delivery to Ukraine.
