An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 hit near the eastern coast of Russia on Tuesday, according to a report by the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The quake's epicenter was registered at a depth of 576.7 kilometers at 9:06 pm local time. It was recorded 296 kilometers east of the Russian town of Poronaysk, which has a population of 16,120.
There were no initial reports of damages or casualties, and the US Tsunami Warning Center has not issued any tsunami warnings.
