JAPAN METEOROLOGICAL AGENCY

A strong 5.5-magnitude earthquake has hit Japan's waters off the coast of the Iwate Prefecture in the northeastern part of the country, the Japan Meteorological Agency reported on Friday.

While the agency graded the shake with 5+ on the Japanese scale of 1-7, the authorities haven't issued a tsunami warning following the earthquake.
