Over half of the members of the British Conservative party think Prime Minister Liz Truss, also a member of the Tories, should resign following turmoil caused by the mini-budget and its reversal, according to a YouGov poll on Tuesday. 83% of the 520 polled Conservatives disapprove of her performance, while 55% say she should step down.
Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson is the favorite to replace her, with 32% of votes in the survey, followed by Truss's rival in the premiership race Rishi Sunak at 23%, and Defense Secretary Ben Wallace at 10%. However, even if Truss steps down, 60% of Tory members do not want a general election, but rather a "unity candidate" chosen by Conservative lawmakers.
