Amazon.com Inc. is expected to become the largest retailer in the United Kingdom by 2025, City A.M. reported on Thursday.
According to Edge Retail Insight research read by the business newspaper, the tech giant's revenue in the UK is seen increasing more than 100% to £77 billion, which would exceed the current leading retailer Tesco plc's expected sales of £76 billion. J Sainsbury plc, Britain's second-largest retailer, is predicted to have a revenue of £42 billion.
The forecast anticipates a third of all UK chain retail sales will be done online by 2025, up from 26% in 2020. E-commerce sales will grow 67% to £176 billion by 2025, the research reportedly says.
