Lebanon decided to file an urgent complaint with the United Nations Security Council against Israel over an alleged Israeli attack on the Dahyeh district in southern Beirut targeting Hamas sites and resulting in the death of the group's Deputy Chief Saleh al-Arouri, according to a statement issued by the Lebanese prime minister's office.

Previously, Lebanon's Prime Minister Najib Mikati said that Israel aims to "draw Lebanon into a new phase of confrontations in light of the ongoing daily attacks on the south of the country," stressing that Israeli authorities seek to export the country's "failures in Gaza to the southern border to impose new facts on the ground."
