Austrian Federal Minister for the European Union (EU) Karoline Edtstadler noted on Thursday that the Austrian oil and gas company has "always paid for gas in euros, and will continue to do," despite Moscow's requests.
The minister reiterated Austrian support for the EU's sanctions against Russia, emphasizing that the European Commission confirmed that the existing form of payment of Russian gas deliveries to Austria is "fully compliant with the sanctions."
Previously, Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer denied claims that Vienna will buy gas in rubles, after Moscow's decision to cut gas supplies to countries refusing to use rubles for payment.
