United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken advised Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant against a major ground invasion of Rafah during their meeting in Washington, stating that there are better alternatives.
Blinken emphasized that a different approach would better serve both Israel and Palestinian citizens, ensuring the safety of both parties, as he expressed his concern for the well-being of 1.4 million civilians currently situated in Rafah. He reiterated that the US supports Israel's efforts to ensure the defeat of Hamas.
The two officials also discussed the necessity of further deliveries of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, as Blinken stressed that the aid should be "immediate."
