United Kingdom's Prime Minister Boris Johnson (pictured) will reinstate the business council system created by his predecessor Theresa May, the Financial Times reported on Friday.
The system, whose future was uncertain following the departure of May's business envoy William Vereker, will remain under Andrew Griffith, former Sky finance chief and Johnson's new business adviser. The move is meant to win over businesses ahead of the Brexit October 31 deadline, the news organization stated.
"The prime minister wants the UK to be the best place to start, to grow and to run a business — there’s no better way to understand important issues affecting the UK business environment and its competitiveness than speaking to employers themselves," a spokesperson for the Downing Street told the FT.
