Turkey's Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu reiterated his government demands a "credible, transparent and also swift" investigation into the assassination of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Speaking in Doha on Sunday, he said it was "very strange" that authorities from Riyadh haven't provided the name of the local collaborator whose participation in the crime in Istanbul they acknowledged. Instead, the top diplomat asserted, they said they would provide a police sketch even though they are supposed to know the person's identity. "Their chief prosecutor got everything from us. In return he didn't share anything with us," Cavusoglu said.
Dismissing criticism for Turkey's crackdown on journalists, the minister accused European countries of "closing their eyes" to the murder and introducing sanctions against people who are already arrested.
He asserted a representative from Saudi Arabia heard the audio recording of the slaying and claimed Salah Muhammad al-Tubaigy, head of forensic medicine at its Ministry of Interior, is "a sick man... enjoying chopping people." Cavusoglu stated the body was taken out of the consulate building.
