Celtics beat Mavericks in first NBA Finals game

The Boston Celtics beat the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1 of the 2024 NBA Finals with a 107-89 victory.

Boston was on top with a 29-point lead in the first half, with Dallas cutting the deficit in the third quarter to single digits at 72-64. The Celtics pushed back with a 14-0 run that put the game to rest. Six different Celtics scored in double figures, with Jaylen Brown finishing with 22 points and 6 rebounds. The Mavericks managed to put in only seven 3-pointers, while Luka Doncic became the first player with at least 30 points and 10 rebounds in his NBA Finals debut since Tim Duncan in 1999.

The second game of the NBA Finals is set for Sunday night.
