Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Wang Wenbin dismissed on Thursday the report his country tested hypersonic weapons again during the summer.

"We have repeatedly expressed China's position on this issue," Wang said at a press conference. "I want to reiterate that the test reported by some media is a routine spacecraft test to test spacecraft reuse technology."

Earlier in the day, the Financial Times reported that China tested a "fractional orbital bombardment system to propel a nuclear-capable hypersonic glide vehicle," much to the United States Department of Defense's surprise.
